Built for the Backbone of Australian Business

Small businesses represent many Australian enterprises and a significant share of the country’s economic activity. As climate reporting obligations expand through supply chains and procurement requirements, small businesses increasingly need credible emissions data and sustainability credentials – not just for compliance, but to protect and grow commercial relationships.

Carbonhalo’s Business Climate Action Program is designed to make that possible. Professional-grade emissions measurement and reporting, proportionate to the scale and resources of a small business.

Commercially Credible

BCAP credentials are recognised by procurement teams, industry bodies, and supply chain partners across Australia.

Proportionate To Your Scale

Designed around the time and resource constraints of a small business — not adapted down from an enterprise tool.

Built To Grow With You

As your reporting obligations or commercial requirements evolve, Carbonhalo's platform scales with your business.

What the Business Climate Action Programme (BCAP) Delivers

The Business Climate Action Program (BCAP) is Carbonhalo’s free carbon accounting and emissions reduction program for Australian small businesses. Delivered entirely at no cost to eligible businesses, BCAP provides the same professional-grade carbon measurement and reporting used by Carbonhalo’s large-business compliance clients — scaled for small business operations and completely free to access.

Who is BCAP for?

BCAP is designed for Australian small businesses that are below the mandatory AASB S2 reporting thresholds — typically businesses with revenue under $50 million, assets under $25 million, or fewer than 100 employees. It is also open to not-for-profits, sole traders, and community organisations that want to measure and reduce their carbon footprint.

What Australian Small Businesses Say

Frequently Asked Questions: BCAP and Sustainability for Small Business

BCAP is Carbonhalo’s climate compliance programme for Australian small businesses. It delivers professional emissions measurement across Scope 1 and Scope 2 sources, a personalised emissions reduction action plan, and a verified BCAP badge and QR code linking customers to your climate dashboard.

Small businesses are not yet directly captured by Australia’s mandatory climate reporting framework under AASB S2, which currently applies to large entities meeting Group 1, 2, or 3 thresholds. However, small businesses are increasingly affected indirectly — through supply chain emissions data requests from large customers, government procurement sustainability criteria, and industry body requirements. BCAP positions your business to meet these commercial expectations ahead of any future regulatory expansion.

BCAP measures your business’s Scope 1 emissions (direct emissions from sources you own or control, such as fuel combustion in vehicles or equipment) and Scope 2 emissions (indirect emissions from purchased electricity). The programme produces a verified emissions report expressed in metric tonnes of CO2-equivalent (tCO2-e).

Most small businesses complete their initial emissions data entry and action plan setup in a single session. The Carbonhalo platform guides you through each step with clear instructions, and the Carbonhalo team is available to assist if your business has specific circumstances that require additional support.

Your verified BCAP badge and climate dashboard can be shared directly with customers via QR code, linked from your website, included in tender and procurement submissions, and shared with industry bodies or supply chain partners as evidence of your sustainability programme. Several industry bodies across Australian tourism, hospitality, and professional services sectors recognise BCAP credentials.

Yes. While Carbonhalo has strong roots in the Tasmanian business community, BCAP is available to small businesses across Australia regardless of location or industry sector.
