What is a carbon credit?
A carbon credit is a digital tradable certificate confirming one tonne of CO2 equivalent has been averted by a certified project. Credits should be used sparingly, only after genuine emissions reduction, and must be retired within a formal register, such as ACCUs, Verra or Gold Standard, to avoid double counting and greenwashing.
